There are tons of ways to make money as an internet marketer, and throughout the day one usually follows somewhat of a structure to their empire building techniques and tweaks. Here is a common set of strategies that a pro would use to generate his/her daily earnings.
1. Check all campaigns that are live - For this example, we log into adwords and see our conversion rates to sales, impressions to clicks, ad positioning, keyword revisions, optimize optimize optimize. If you're in the PPC world, it is a tough part of your campaign to keep tweaked and profitable so eyes usually fall here first.
2. Log into ClickBank, Commission Junction, Azoogle, or any other affiliate networks that you are promoting, and check any and all sales that were generated via your PPC efforts or other efforts. Usually all campaigns have an ID attached to them so that you can track where and how your campaigns are performing best. This also enables you to eliminate any campaigns you are promoting that are not yielding results.
3. Jump on popular affiliate and webmaster forums to take part in discussions, get some traffic from the signature links, and or announce a new program I am going to be promoting or launching. Staying in touch with other webmasters and pros in the industry is very lucrative. JV anyone? You'll see this term more and more and publishers both recruit affiliates to their programs, and or look for top level partners to work on the whole account(s) together.
4. Check youtube, make a video that is relevant to my campaigns and try to outdo other popular videos that are in my relative field. Add a link to my description. This is probably going to be a hot topic this year for affiliate marketers.
5. Jump into either blogger, wordpress or article sites to read and write some articles/blogs. This enhances and promotes my name and my venture(s) to the world, the more I write and the better my read, the more I can expect to land some interest in my business.
6. It's finally lunch time, make sure you are fresh all day with your energy, most affiliate marketers absorb a lot of information on a daily basis. If you're like me, you spend half your day on campaign dev/upkeep, the other half talking to potential clients on the phone, and the evenings rendering all kinds of creative work for them - another angle of internet marketing: Servicing clients with THEIR marketing needs...
7. Mid afternoon until evening is when the markets slow down their shopping for the day, and so we take this time to make new effective assets for our existing profitable campaigns or we take on new ones. Researching a new product or program before you promote it is crucial - and research requires full concentration until you are done - research your product well and prepare your campaigns with stealth.
8. Towards the end of the day, the phones ring a few more times, the proposal writing for clients start/finish for the next day, and the follow ups are prepared for the following morning (you thought we just made and looked after sneaky ads?). Running an internet business can fall into so many categories you can get lost easily. Diversifying your offerings and knowledge base to a few that are lucrative will ensure that you do not 'put all your eggs in one basket'. Markets changes, needs/deliverables change, products and programs come and go, we make sure we have overlapping revenue streams so if one falls out, we do not sink.
9. Evening rolls around and shoppers are back. Most have just finished dinner and are surfing the web looking for something, we try to be there! Understanding how surfers and shoppers work on a mass level, will greatly improve any marketers campaign development. Knowing when your shoppers are coming, where they buy from most geographically, what days and times perform best or worst, and taking advantage of this information for future campaigns is crucial. Each day we try to observe something new about our analytics, and prepare or tweak our campaigns for the predicted trend.
10. Get a few hours of sleep, potentially make a few sales while sleeping, wake up - and do it all over again.
Getting help with marketing be it affiliates, publisher, offline business owner etc. is something that should not be taken lightly. If you are trying to monetize on something you NEED to get your hands on someone with experience in the field and LEARN from them. Learn everything they know - if you find amazing publications or online courses - TAKE THEM.
The few hundred bucks you might spend online for a few powerful marketing collections is priceless compared to the knowledge you will learn on how to really monetize your business and time. Not to mention that marketing courses in reputable educational institutes are in the thousands and 2-3 years long. By the time you finish the course - their education can be outdated. For new business owners or to internet marketers, there is simply WAY too much to learn, the technology is advanced and always evolving, however the fundamentals and proven systems to marketing will NEVER change.
